Fall Rec 2017

Fall Rec is competitive, but focuses more on player development and has a lesser time commitment than Fall Select. This is a great program for beginners as well as seasoned Fall Rec players looking to improve their game and to prepare for the upcoming Spring Season.
Practices: Once per week. At times an additional NON-mandatory practice could be scheduled, i.e. batting cages.
Games: 1 game every Sunday (The exception to this is when the end of season tournament is held-the games are typically held on Saturday or Sunday).
Timing: Registration closes on August 6th. A skills evaluation day will be held a weekend in August, and coaches will draft their teams to ensure an equitable distribution of skills across the MVGS Fall Rec teams.
Practices begin in late August, with games running from mid Sept till November.
Competitiveness: Teams are represented from nearby leagues, and while some games will be played in Mission Viejo, many games will be played in Aliso Viejo and other surrounding cities. The league is competitive, but still offers girls with other time commitments to be able to participate.
Selection Process: We will make every attempt to put every girl on a team. The program is for 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U age appropriate players. Participation in the past spring league is not required. Any player moving up a division in the Spring is allowed to play in that division. Any additional play up requests can be submitted to the registrar mvgsregistrar@gmail.com for board approval.

Fall Select 2017

Mission Viejo Girls Softball Fall Ball offers two separate programs: Fall Select and Fall Recreational. Both involve playing teams from other leagues, but each offers a different level of competition and commitment from the girls.
FALL SELECT: This program is highly competitive with a greater time commitment required. Players are selected and invited to join Fall Select teams by MVGS Board approved Fall Select head coaches.

*Practices: 2 or more per week
*Games: 2 games (double-header) every Saturday or Sunday. They can be in Mission Viejo or any of the other league members’ locations. All are within Orange County.
*Timing: Practices begin in late August, with games running from Sept till November.
*Tournaments: TBD
*Competitiveness: The age divisions may be divided into a Gold (A) and a Silver (B). Gold is made up of at least half the roster being All-Stars, many being district All-Stars. While the Silver division does have many All-Stars, not all girls are All-Stars
*Eligibility: Player must have played in MVGS during the spring unless they played High School.
*Selection Process: Once the coaches are approved they will “select” and invite girls from the spring rec league to play for their teams. Due to the limited number of teams, not all girls will be “selected.” If your daughter is not selected and wants to play Fall Select, you should contact the Program Director for your daughter’s age division to join an interest list, and if there is an opening on one of the Select team rosters your daughter may be contacted to play. In the meantime, we recommend that you register for the Fall Recreational program.
